Try OxyClean.  I've been told (hearsay, so I don't know for sure) that it's
used by museums to whiten linens and cottons in their collections.  In any
event, it works miracles on any organic stain.  DON'T use it on wool!  It
makes wool very crunchy and weird.

 

The key is HOT water to dissolve the powder, and then let things soak and
soak and soak.
