I have one right now that looks like we sheared her around the middle down
to the tummy. He lamb keeps digging at her. I think he wants her to get up
so he can have a drink and she won't. So he makes bald spots. We have one or
two like this every year. The lambs are never small ones that are starving.
Their mothers just ignore them and keep chewing there cuds. 

We bought some sheep that hadn't been sheared the year before and you could
see a line in the fleece when they when sheared. None of them had lost any
wool. It was about 10 inches long on some of them. That long for meat sheep
