Hi,

I'm trying to be good, and stay away from what might sound like animal
husbandry questions, but I don't know where to ask these questions. So, to cut
down on the list owner's tasks, would you please contact me off list, with your
replies? [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Someone, or maybe several someones, are attempting to retain the color and
fiber length of karakuls, while trying to breed for a soft, next to the skin,
fiber.

I maintain that doing so changes the breed. It's no longer the karakul of
yesteryear. It's a new breed.

The response I got was that the changes are to phenotype rather than genotype
and that "'Merino and churro are genetically similar", so it doesn't matter (I
guess) what changes are made to the fiber of the karakul it will still be
recognized as a karakul sheep breed.

There's a question in there, somewhere. Could someone please try to answer it
for me? Thanks!
