Pick the bottom leaves in the spring before it blossoms! If you can pick
the bottom leaves in the first year growth only for a neon green.

Joanna I think this is your totem plant and you should stop trying to kill
it! <grin> I gave up on thistles and milkweed and as a result I'm the only
yard in town with honeybees, I also have the best looking thistle and
milkweed stands in town.

Subject: green dye/mullein

Dear Fiber-netters,

I *WISH* some of you would come to my farm and harvest the mullein!!!!!
I hack, I hew, I brush-hog, I dig ... you can't get rid of the stuff ..
NOTHING eats it ... its not toxic, just thick and hairy and incredibly
resistant to drought and non-soils.
It sucks up any water and good stuff in the "soil" and prohibits anything
else from growing in its vicinity.
Can you tell I hate it?
joanna
