>>Other than rugs, what else can you do with that fiber that would give you
>>fits worn next to the skin?<<

When I first started spinning, I fell in love with mohair. A friend had a
couple of Angora goats. I paid for the shearing, and got the fiber. I thought
it was gorgeous. It reminded me of spring clouds. I just loved everything about
processing that fiber. I used to wish I could take it to bed, like a stuffed
teddy bear.

I used it for sock yarn. I blended a 50/50 merino/mohair for the yarn. I still
have those socks. Due to ignorance on my part (don't wear socks on sidewalks or
black topped streets) there's a great deal of the original yarn that's been
replaced with a new blend of merino and mohair.

Then I knit a scarf. I couldn't figure out why my neck was all itchy. A friend
told me it was the older mohair, and to try kid mohair for a scarf. So I did.

I can't figure out how that fiber, which is so soft and wonderful in locks,
manages to harden up and poke the skin, when it's knit. I have lace mohair
scarves. I have a favorite lace shawl that I want to wear everywhere. Both of
them cause the itchies.

I think it's an Angora goat conspiracy.
