d2 - I was using a round number for purposes of publishing the calculation - 
in this case, 2000 lets the reader see more clearly how the numbers develop.
Formulas are written so that the user may substitute his/her precise values 
to get their precise results.

In the original question, the 2600 yards per pound would have calculated out 
to 2600 meters/500g.
