All, I recently purchases some alpaca roving. The fiber had been mill prepared, and was very nice looking, in the photos on the web site.
Here's the description: Price for each bump is $15. Average bump weight is approximately one-half pound. I was truly amazed at how much VM was in the fiber. I pulled out a lot of VM. Some of the pieces were over an inch long, others were tiny foxtails. I have one bobbin of fiber. The yarn weighs 4.46 oz. I know it's possible to lose some fiber during the spinning process. But that much? I really want to contact the vendor, but I don't know what to say, because I'm not sure if this much loss in weight is normal, or to be expected. Any input welcome. Thanks! wrnk d2
