A neat experiment that would prove whether or not fibers from sheep were finer in periods of the last thousand years or not would be to compare micron tests of HUMAN hair from those periods in those same finds as the wool to that of today. If the ancient human hair is finer than that of today, my suspicion that time has worked its magic would be supported.
