one of my fav 'separator/s' is a 'reed' beach mat which is soft enough and is continuous - the ones with the bound edges are best. When one runs out if it's a long wapr and I slot in another.......as the warp unwinds they gently and extremely quietly drop down whereever it set them flop down to :-)
mine aren't very wide but I have seen quite wide ones in the cheap import shops......if I have a wider warp I have a selection of sticks. I too found paper had to manage as it would crinkle so much. Sometimes corrugated will work but in the end that can tear. I haven't tryed wallpaper but I have in mind to try that vinyl cloth backed stuff whenever I finally decide to do any weaving again! cathy, who finally had to give her looms sabbatical leave!!
