Dear Dick, Following the recent meeting with the insurance brokers and insurer and as suggested by the insurer it is of utmost importance that we are recognised by the UAE Govt. even as a club. In case of disputes we can be properly represented if we have legal existence. Future claims will also be paid by insurer to the foundation but since we don't have a bank account in the name of the foundation, we may face difficulty in getting the claims. To open a bank account in the foundation or club's name we must be duly registered and recognised locally. Since you mentioned that we can not be registered as a foundation but as a club, the name of the club as registered should be the name to appear in the contract. I therefore suggest the insurance coverage commence on January 1, 2009. This will give us more time to get proper recognition from the ministry of social affairs, open a bank account in the club's name, get more members to meet the minimum requirement of 10,000 members. As of today we only have 249 members ( 61 incorporators / 188 charter members). The balance 9,751 members may be added in the list in the next 120 days. Regards, Bal
