Agree with Ma'am Lou. Depends on school. I think in some cases you have to consult with adviser, panel and office abt the thesis. Kung 6 years baka napanis na yung topic at pati yung data na gathered na. Happened to my mom and her dissertation, 3 times. In some cases you have to re-enrol in penalty courses, present a new / revised proposal, etc.
