and I have forwarded a report of this situation to MakeMusic (fka Coda).
What I subsequently found is this:

using the same source file, printing to the same driver ("HP 5/5M
postscript" supplied with Windows 2nd Ed) if I printed at a resolution of
300 dpi; everything printed as I expected.  However, if I printed at a
resolution of 600 dpi, three instances of the letter "g" remained in the
toner cartridge, though as near as I can tell, everything else printed out,
including other instances of the letter "g".
