I'm almost sorry I asked my first question (about whether Win4Lin could
support MIDI). I submitted a question to the Win4Lin developers, and they
confirmed that it does NOT support MIDI.

I'm glad that Finale 2003 still supports Win98. (I ordered my upgrade on
the first day.) If/when Finale abandons Win98, I'll have to decide whether
to switch to the Mac or upgrade Windows. (Hopefully by then, Finale will
be working on the latest Mac OS ...)

Regarding "back to the basics," except for my first month or two (years
ago, with MusicProse!), when I used simple entry ("clicking in" the notes
on my 286 with Windows 3.1)--and several months using HyperScribe (using
the lowest note on the MIDI keyboard as the "pulse" note)--I have used
Speedy entry, with my right hand on the MIDI keyboard and my LEFT hand on
the numeric key pad of the computer keyboard. It's fast!
