I think the ideal situation would be to have an algorhythm that draws perfect slurs in any situation. Admitedly not everyone agrees on what such a perfect slurs looks like, but that's what the settings are for. Personally I see no need to have separate settings for high and low max lift. However, perhaps 2k3 will solve some of your problem with the added option to stretch the slurs first.
