I use:- Powerbook G3 - 500MgH - 384 RAM. Synths - Roland SC8820,, Proteous 2 Orchestral., PROformance. Finale 2000c ______________________ In answer to my plea to Finale HELP about the failure of MIDI TOOL - Continuous Data to change the Key Velocity of some notes which stubbornly refuse to comply with my desired settings - they told me to go to Mass Mover, select the region having this problem and CLEAR all Continuous Data. Well sometimes this works but frequently it still does not and is infuriating when some notes will NOT change what ever I do.
I have tried CLEARING ALL - both Continuos Data and Key Velocities on these scores before setting Key Velocties by Select All- Mass Mover - Clear and/or Setting the parameters to zero, but the same thing happens. It makes me wonder whether there is a copmputer keyboard method of FORCED clearance - but I can find nothing in HELP about the matter. Likewise I notice that the Playback refuses to play back newly set Key Velocity settings in spite of my having SAVED the document and then using Playback with pre-scan. It blithely carries on playing back the old Key Velocity settings. In one MSS it continues to play all the organ parts in one continuous terrible noise and nothing I do can stop it. This is right in the centre of a work and will not stop - also in this piece Triplets do not play properly even if I 'Randomise' the starting times for the entire piece. Finale has more than adequate memory allocation. I am *very fed up and angry* with this problem in Finale. I have frequently written to them about it and am always told when sending examples there is nothing wrong with them. Well *there is* and they are unplayable by the synths. This only applies to certain MSS's which makes me suspect that the layout of the original blank score may have some fault in it. The trouble with Finale is that one is blind and cannot get behind the score to see what the cause of the fault is! Finale must have had many complaints about it. Has it been fixed in later versions? I also am quite unable to make the pedal markings play back correctly if I use Midi Tool method and select a mid measure region; the shaded graphic area just goes to the end of the selected measure and there is nothing I can do to make it finish before the end of that measure. Do pedal signs - and indeed dynamics set via Articulations always over-ride Midi Tool Continuous Data Sustain settings? Is it correct to 'mix' them in a work ?
