As far as I can tell there is indeed a problem with tighter spacing in
Finale, but in recent versions it shows very seldomly. If it does show the
result it too tightly spaced notes only in some measures, especially the
combination note - accidental-note.

It only shows when the spacing is tight but not very tight. Often making the
spacing tighter (by moving another measure into the system) will make it
disappear. For me, if the problem comes up, I found that most of the time
TGTools Expand/Compress Spacing (doesn't matter which) with a value of 1
EVPU will fix it, at least on the second or third attempt.

I have reported the problem several times to Coda, but it seems they haven't
fixed it yet, though I haven't tried in 2k3.

However, I don't agree that Finale's spacing looks ugly generally with
tighter spacing. If you use values as I gave them in my other post it
generally works _very_ well.
