The only issue is when you have XP properly configured so that the primary logon is a user account and not an administrative account (anyone who doesn't do this is being very, very foolish) -- the default user group permissions won't allow the spell checker to run. There is a Knowledge Base article on this, with a solution that involves setting security on certain registry keys to allow the user group to read/change those settings. I've had to do this with a number of installations of Word97 on Win2K. If you run as an administrative user, though, it won't be a problem for Word97. But you will certainly be opening yourself up to a whole host of other problems. -- David W.
