There is a mic that is reasonably priced (maybe $20) that clips onto 
the bell of a wind instrument, designed to work with tuning machines, 
one can get it at music stores. I understand that the sound is so bad 
as to be unusable in a recording or amplified music situation, but 
the mic clicks in on the fundamental real fast, which is what tuners 
and Mic-notator need.

That said, I wouldn't depend on Mic-notator for anything. Blechh.
