Harry Connick Jr didn't come up with anything significant. He just got some publicity because he's a celebrity. The real leader in this field is FreeHand Systems. It's still in the early stages, but they have actual products along the lines of what you describe. I didn't mention this the first time because I figured that Michael G would respond, since I know Recordare has been doing some collaboration with FreeHand.
