I think you will find that Command-click brings up the master tool palette. And a group will always include the staves in-between. However, the solution is simple. Use Special Part Extraction: - In Scroll view, use Shift-Click to select the staves you need. Be sure to click directly on the handles of the staves in order to make a discontinuous selection. - Turn on Special Part Extraction in the Edit menu. - Go to Page view.
