That's it in a nutshell. OS X Midi as of Jaguar is a fully sanctioned set of APIs evolved from from NeXT's Music Kit. Writing the same for pre-OS X is one of the black arts and Coda's implementation is not trivial. Consider HyperScribe or Speedy, which involve the coordination of Midi input, database entries, and screen redraws. While changes to Enigma are generally incremental, porting code evolved over more than a decade in the other two areas is significant.
