People have been speaking of using staff styles.  Which version of 
Finale are you using?  They have only been around since Finale2000 (if 
memory serves me properly) so if you are using Finale98 or earlier, you 
won't have any idea what they are talking about.

In versions before Finale2000, you could create two separate staves, one 
with the slash notation and the other with the trumpet cue on the top 
space, and then simply drag one staff onto the other one so the lines 
overlap and you will have what you want.
