Yes that works. I didn't know I could apply staff styles to partial measures
- very clever.

Anyway, the problem I now face is spacing: The measures with the slashes
space almost as large as if they had real notes in them. How can I fix this?
It seems the hidden notes still affect the spacing.

I have tried deselecting "Hidden Notes" in the Music Spacing options, and
selected "Ignore hidden layers" in the layer options.

How do I get Finale to ignore the notes when spacing?
