As an archivist for many arts projects (not just music), I'm wondering about paper vs. reproduction stability. Do any of you use archive-grade laser printers? If you use heavier paper, the fuser can't get the adhesive quite as hot where it meets the paper surface. Photocopies are already subject to shedding (and inkjet to smearing). I consider all computer printers and photocopiers to be ephemeral copies, and only use stock "Staples" grade paper because the bind is good to the paper surface. It always seemed pointless to worry about heavy paper (bad fuser bind) and acid-free (the paper outlasts the toner). Have things changed? Is anyone compensating for this with an archive copier/printer? Are computer printers even made in archiving versions? I've yet to meet a laser printer copy I can't scrape off, and it's easier to do with heavy paper.
