If you are just after the tool commands, those are programmable in FinMac. I
cannot remember the key combos for that, but the manual will sure tell you.
You have to save them in your default document to use them in documents
created after that or create the key combos in every document.

Whatever the case about the tool keys, if you are going to do engraving
seriously using Finale, you will definitely need a macro utility. As far as
I know Quickeys is so far the only one that offers both a MacOs 9 and a
MacOs X version, it may well be your best option (considering that Fin 2k4
is expected to be OS X native).
I personally use OneClick, which I believe is cheaper than Quickeys, and
perhaps more powerful (though I have never used Quickkeys, so I can't really
tell). The company is called Westcode, and I seem to remember the webpage
was www.westcodesoft.com, but I am no longer sure. If you cannot find it get
back to me and I'll look it up.
OneClick does allow rather complex macros, and I couldn't live without it in
Finale. Unfortunately I think there is no OS X version planned.
In OS X there is a tool called Keyboard Maestro, which looks promising, but
it won't help you with the current version of Finale.

I don't know of any freeware. Before I got OneClick I used KeyQuencer
briefly, which has a shareware version. However, every macro needs to be
programmed, ie you have to write the macro code yourself.
