I sent the following question to Philip Aker (creator of the Classic Transposition plugin among other useful things), but since he may not be near his computer this weekend (or otherwise busy) I thought I would try relying on the collective wisdom of this list:

****************************************************************
I haven't used Finale in a couple of weeks, but now when I start the program I get a confusing error message:

"Classic Transposition: Need a newer version of Finale to use this plug-in."

After I press OK I then get a crash (error type 10) that necessitates a restart.

The thing is, I took out all my Finale plugins and I erased any classic transposition preferences that I could find and still I get the error message followed by a crash.

The error message and crash does not happen when I remove my Finale preferences which I keep in my Finale folder. Are the classic transposition prefs stored inside the Finale 2003 preference file? Do I have to redo all of my Finale preferences from scratch?

I'm on a Mac, system 9.2.2 using Finale 2003a

Thanks for your attention to this.

P.S. After I sent this message I did redo all of my Finale preferences from scratch, reinstalled the plugins and have not had this problem again. In case the error message comes up again in the future, I would like to solve the problem. (I've made an archived stuffed backup Finale 2003 Preferences file just in case.)
