Yes.
If so, then that is because you now have a different MIDI Setup than you had previously for that file. Open MIDI>MIDI Setup, and choose OMS, and then choose your input and output instruments from the menus.
Okay, this is where my understanding of the process becomes peripheral. My choices for Output Instrument are Quicktime Music, Studio patches pgm chg, USB Midi 1x1, and .. IAC Bus #1 (the two dots represent what looks like an infinity sign. I know what Quicktime Music is, I have no idea what Studio patches pgm chg is, USB Midi 1x1 is my MIDI interface device, and I don't know what ..IAC Bus #1 is. I have chosen Quicktime Music here because that is how it is set up at the studio where I have been doing this work.
My choices for Input device are USB Midi 1x1, .. IAC Bus #1 (in italics) and .. IAC Bus #1 (not italicized). I have the italicized version of IAC Bus #1 chosen because I *think* this is the piano, and I feel reasonably sure that I *should* have the piano chosen here. At least, at the studio the piano is chosen here.
In the box marked Receive Midi Synch from I have chosen USB Midi 1x1.
There *has* been some progress. Finale now only complains that it does not find IAC Bus in my studio setup and that I should check my MIDI setup and my OMS setup. I *do* see IAC Driver in My Studio. I do *not* hear any sound during playback, nor will it accept input from the piano. I *do* hear sounds from other sources (Ta-Da when it boots, all sounds when you test them out from the sound menu).
I have my piano connected to a USB port. I have the midi cables plugged in-to-out, out-to-in in the interface. The piano is on.
Have any idea where I am going wrong?
If there are italicized instrument names, then those are not found in your current setup. Choose those that are in the current setup (not italicized) as you like, and you should be good to go.
Are you booting in OS 9 (what I understood from a previous message), or using Classic Mode in X? If you are doing the former (highly recommended), then you don't need to worry about X drivers, but if you are doing the latter, then I'm not sure--there are others on this list who can steer you better than I--I have forgotten since the last time I played with that. Of course, in a couple of months you will (hopefully) be able to throw OMS out the window, and pretty much say goodbye to Classic as well.
I am booting in Classic Mode. This machine does not do OS9.
