[Finale] smart shapes?

When I use the tool called the "Smart Shape Tool," the right-end of the slur "snaps back" to the left from the point at which I release the mouse.  Can anyone suggest a means to "coax" the slur to stay at the point at which I release the mouse? 

Also, the behavior of the slur when I apply it to the stem end of a group of notes, i.e., a grace-note group, is quite unusual, causing the slur to appear upside down and resistant to any changes I try to make.
