Hi,

Maybe someone can help me with this:

I have an HP Laserjet 6MP Postscript printer, which is currently connected
via LocalTalk to my Mac. It seems that I won't be able to avoid OS X much
longer and I need to find the best way to connect this printer to my
Computer other than LocalTalk.

The Printer only has LocalTalk and a Parallel Interface. One way I know
would work is to get a LocalTalk Ethernet bridge, but these things are quite
pricey.

I wonder whether a USB to Parallel adapter would work as well? I don't need
the printer in the network.

If this would work, is there anything I need to know before getting a
USB->Parallel adapter? Do they all work the same, or do they need drivers?
Should I get a special Mac compatible adapter? Will I be able to print to
the printer from OS X and OS 9? Or only OS X? Or none at all?

Another question: I have another printer, also connected through LocalTalk,
also a Postscript Laser (it is at a different location, that's why I have
two). This printer does have an Ethernet connection, but it is of the old
BNC variety. I have seen adapters around at ebay, will any of these work? At
that location we'll be setting up an Ethernet network anyway, and it would
be great if the printer could be shared between both PSs and Macs, is this
going to work? It is an old Apple Laserwriter Pro 810 in a Dataproducts
casing. Don't tell me to get a new one, this is an A3 printer, and I don't
have the money to replace it...

Any help appreciated.
