I asked about changing the staff spacing in just one system of a piece. Thanks to all who offered various solutions.

Yes, but unfortunately every one of those solutions involves dragging each staff by hand. If I wanted to do that, I would never have give up on ENCORE. > ... you might also think about setting > the system percentage for page one at one > measurement and everything from page two > onwards at a slightly larger percentage - > it's usually no more than 5% difference > and you never have to deal with spacing > issues. Just a thought. As a matter of fact, while wandering through FINALE'S help files -- you know, the ones that are arranged so that you can never find what you want :-) -- and through all of the pull-down menus, came across the ability to reduce the size of an entire system. So I did exactly what you're now recommending -- I reduced the staff size on system one (= page one in this score) to 96% of the size of the rest of the score. It now fits perfectly between the title and the copyright notice. I first tried 90%, which was too much of a reduction; then 95%, 96%, 97%, and then went back to 96%. The "Undo" key in Finale is a GREAT feature for trial-and-error stuff.
