... unfortunately every one of those solutions involves dragging each staff by hand. If I wanted to do that, I would never have give up on ENCORE.
If you don't want to drag the staves, you can change their spacing using the "Respace Staves" command. In order to make this command work in just one optimized system, make sure that at least one of the lower staff handles is selected. If you then choose "Respace Staves..." in the Staff menu and enter a different number for the distance between staves, you will find that only the staves in that particular system get respaced.
