Assuming that things are the same for Mac as for Win, the answer is no. When you upgrade from a previous version of Finale, you get a special price, but the disk you get is a regular install disk -- it doesn't even ask for proof of the earlier versions.
If you have no need for the earlier versions on your computer, you should actually uninstall them before installing Fin2004, since uninstalling them later might actually delete some things which you still need (like music fonts).
Please note that this is different from the minor (and free) upgrades that Coda occasionally issues. When they come out with a 2004b or c, this gets applied directly over your existing Fin2004.
