But the problem was caused by a misconfiguration of the whitelist -- 
the user intended that all Finale list messages be accepted. If that 
had happened correctly, you never would have seen the messages.

I don't have any problems whatsoever with the principle of a 
whitelist, since I have no right to send email to any particular 
person. But it's important if you're using one to configure it 
correctly so that one doesn't, as you say, unload your own problem 
onto others.
