I guess part of the problem for me is that I often use Finale to open up
MIDI files (just to get a rough sketch of what's going on in the song), or I
open up older files just to listen with HP.  They are opened as "Untitled"
Finale files and always request a filename when Autosave is attempted
(whether playback is on, the program is in the background, or whatever).  I
don't want to give names to *these* files, or even to save them at all.
This filename request causes lots of problems with both Finale's operation
(most notably when concurrent with playback) and the operation of other
programs to some extent.

About the "saving while not frontmost," I think that should be scrapped.  In
<2k3, it would just delay the autosave until the program is in the
foreground again, and I don't see any problem with that.  It doesn't take
CPU time away from other programs, which is a plus.
