If that worked on a measure-by-measure basis, that would work. As all the music where there's no layer 4 is in layer 1, this wouldn't work. Actually, that gives me the idea that if I did move all the hidden stuff to a different layer, I could have that layer ignored in spacing. I'll have to check how often I use all the layers -- in one of the pieces I was working on, I used all four layers, and needed spacing to apply to all of them. Isn't it a bug for blank notation to be used for spacing? -- David W.
