That's the method I long ago abandoned in favor of blank notation,
because it meant I didn't have to worry about non-visible data having
an effect on how things came out.

I just finished converting everything to the blank notation method a
couple of years ago, and, indeed just discovered an unconverted file
today.

Of course, I didn't do it very efficiently. I used a single staff for
all the instruments, and a different layer for each instrument (my
repertory is piano quartets, so this takes care of most of what I
needed; actually, in most cases I had two hidden staves, because the
piano could need different playback in both hands, which gives me a
total of 6 layers for other instruments), but at the time I started
this I wasn't too swift with MIDI and had each layer going to its own
independent track, not the same tracks as the main staves. And,
foolishly, I only put the ornament realizations in the other staves,
so I had to have little expressions that turned off playback in the
display layer and turned it back on.

Yes, it wasn't very bright.

It might be easiest for me to go back to that method at this point,
though.

However, I still don't like the idea of having hidden staves.
