How DOES one hide the Message Bar? Are we talking about the little strip
across the bottom that describes the tools functions as you select them?
I've customized my tool palettes, etc., but I've yet to see this option.

The Message bar is located just below the menu bar. You can toggle it to show or hide in the View Menu.
This may also be a Mac vs. Windows thing. I dunno if you can hide the Message Bar in the Windows version, and even if you can, I don't know if it makes any speed difference, the way it does on the Mac side.
It would be interesting to know, if anyone cares to make a comparison. Good tests are applying spacing to a large document, or using big, time-consuming plugins like Patterson Beams. On the Mac side, these things are much faster with the Message Bar turned off.
