The reason that we ask is so that we don't overwrite anything that
you've already customized. The user backlash would be quite bad (am I
right guys? <g>) if we deleted everyone's cusomized FinaleScripts,
instrument.txt, and pagesizes.txt files without asking. There's no harm
done in writing or not overwriting these files.

Subject: [Finale] INSTALLATION ALERT - 2004B MAC

A SMALL(?) ALERT --

I've installed 2004B for Mac. Then I became aware of the PDF problem,
i.e. when my Print to PDF came out distorted on the Windows/Acrobat
side.

As soon as I heard about the Font Pack solution, I installed that.

Then 2004B Installer came out, so I downloaded it, and during it's
Install I saw a prompt:

"FinaleScript.dat" already exists.

Do you wish to replace it with the file/folder from the installer?

The choices were --

Replace, Replace All, Stop, Skip

Since this prompt came up DURING the install, I didn't know if Stop
would mess up the Install, and I'll end up with having to Uninstall,
re-install, troubleshooting mess etc. So I opted for REPLACE ALL

Today when I double-clicked a file, it opened up in F2004 instead of
2004B. When I looked in Applications/Finale 2004 Folder, I saw 2 Finale
Applications - F2004 instead of 2004B!

Adrian, in tech support told me that I could Delete F2004, and that my
selection of REPLACE ALL during the above prompt was the correct choice!

My SUGGESTION to MakeMusic is to PROMPTLY ALERT all it's User Base about
that prompt VIA MASS EMAIL, and POSTING IT IN BIG RED LETTERS NEAR THE
DOWNLOAD NOW BUTTON ON THEIR WEB SITE!

Also, it's very easy to overlook the fact that the original F2004
application didn't get deleted during the F2004B Install. Thus, folks
who double-click on old files might not see that "b" is missing from
Finale name, to the right of the Apple Menu, and they would continue
working in 2004, thinking that they are in 2004B, thus possibly having
the same old 2004 problems... resulting in hours of troubleshooting, and
taking up Tech Support time.

Hope this helps...
