Check that Program Options -> Folders -> User Manual points to the 
correct folder on your HD.  (If it turns out that was the problem, 
remember to save your preferences!)

I had an installation problem with both the original program of 
WinFin2004
and the updater: they both "hung" near the end of the installation.

I wonder if this was the cause?
