Friends:

There is a bug in 2004b which can corrupt a multi measure rest symbol and render files useless! The delinquent symbol is the thicker of the two available shapes - the one that is about 24 evpu's thick. It shows up fine on screen, but prints slanted and folded over on itself. Replacing each individual rest symbol with the narrower one cures the problem, but this is not an acceptable work-around for more than a couple of documents. When using 2004b, all documents print with this problem (even files created in earlier versions) as long as you are printing from 2004b. The solution seems to be to trash the updated application and return to using 2004. Then, at least earlier files print correctly. I haven't tried printing the files created in 2004b yet, to see if they print correctly from 2004. MacSupport knows about this and promises a maintenance repair. This is an unacceptable bug, and is a deal breaker for me. I cannot use 2004b until this is fixed.

If anyone else experiences this problem, please inform MacSupport.

Forewarned......!
