I use them all the time. The prime use at least for me is for doubling
parts, which do occur often in the kind of music I edit. Eventually the
mirrors will have to be converted (part extraction requires this) but they
can save a lot of time.

On the other hand I can see that in a "no-time" situation they do require
extra time.
