I'm replying to the list because I think there are others who this might interest.
I tried out your method just now on a 5-horn and rhtyhm section Latin chart, and it worked great! It took me a couple of tries to get a couple of the unfamiliar extra steps right (turn off staff names, create a new instrument name text block, remember to respace (aargh!), and if I change the size of a bar manually, the next staff doesn't inherit that, nor does it inherit where I manually broke a multi-measure rest.) I also figured out quickly that I had to TURN OFF SPE, then select a new staff, then turn SPE back on again. Selecting the new staff alone wan't enough.
Any other tips?
