johannes, i received it in F2k3 and worked in the same version. really, at each stage of conversion (winds, brass, etc.) i noticed the change in file size drop radically as i replaced the repeated measures with mirrors, removed the deleted items, and saved under another name (the score i worked on has a LOT of repeated measures, in fact "direct" repetition is the norm in this piece).

great success. they helped me reduce the size of a score from 2.5M
(!) when i received it, to 1.4M once i had changed all repeated bits
 to mirrors.

I wonder whether the reduction in file size may have been due to converting from an older version to a newer? Such a substancial reduction seems unlikely just by using mirrors.
