He does make some good stuff, but the JazzFont is in serious need of tweaking. Let's start with the number set and the letter Z. . . . I've started using Dom Casual for my numbers.

Ha! I came to the same conclusion independently, right down to the substitute font - Dom Casual!

Good call! Obviously, I still prefer JF to DC for alpha text. Is there any other alternative for using a casual, handwritten-style font besides Dom Casual or JazzFont?

Also, is there any chance we can force any changes to some of the JazzFont characters, either administratively (eg, plead with Finale to get Sigler to revise them), or by manipulating the fonts themselves?

You can always make edits to the font itself with a font editor, but then the files you create will only look right on your computer, unless the other computer has a copy of the edited font.

Darcy Argue here on the list enlisted jef chippewa to make a couple of edits to the JazzCord font, so that certain items would be available in custom suffixes (like taller and straighter parentheses, and stubby flats and sharps for alterations.) He has made it generally available on his webpage.

As for font preferences, I use Dom in my chord suffixes now, since it has lower-case letters available. When I write m for minor, I don't want it to be a capital M, as that means major in some circles.
