Only if the license for 2k4 or it's updaters says you have that right, but it appears to me from reading the license that you have the right to use the software they provide, but not the right to "expect fixes".


I see the various versions as a means to manage the expectations of consumers. Because certain changes make it impossible for a previous version to correctly interpret the data file created with a later version, the version is simply an expedient means of communicating, "dont expect this software to be able to do that."

I have no specific knowledge that this is true, but I suspect that there is a time line for additions and fixes and that someone at MakeMusic already has some idea what is going to be new in 2k7 and maybe even 2k8, assuming the hurdles to be faced with 2k6, are resolved in time. I further suspect that some work on 2k6 began months ago, and there are probably a person or two working on 2k7 already.
