[Finale] Stem connections

I'm trying to set stem connections on custom noteheads I've made in a 
font editor.  They're saved in a font file for the purpose of this 
single project.  I go to Document options - Stems - Stem connections and 
create a new set for the font/character combination in question, but 
when I then use that notehead in the score, the default connections are 
used.  Am I doing somethign wrong?
