Naturally this is a matter of personal preference, but having spent some time on this in the past I can say that I have not seen any hand-engraved music with such thin lines. 2.25 is the value I suggested (and I think Coda may have adopted it from me) a long time ago. I think that 1.5 is too thin to be readable in real-life stress situations (ie poorly lit churches or orchestra pits).
