Hi Chris,
The Edirol keyboard in question does not have any built-in audio. Yes, latency w/MIDI Thru on is an issue, but it's much less of an issue in OS X, especially if you have a decently beefy machine.

Heh heh, one should say "in real time with about a half-second delay, depending on how fast your computer is." I for one can't deal with the constant late speaking of notes I play, so I use my keyboard's sounds for note entry, and sometimes use Finale's sounds for playback.
