[Finale] notating repeated eighths

Haven't been able to discover how to notate a series of repeated eighth 
notes. What I want to see on the page is a half note with a slash through 
the stem, indicating 2 beats of repeated 1/8ths.

Is my only option to enter a half note, then go back and put a slash thru 
the stem? And if that's the solution, will the extracted parts print out 
correctly?

I'm using Finale 2004a for Windows.
