You turned off "Save Preferences when Exiting Finale," didn't you?

Just a thought, Taris -- In the Program Options dialogue there is an option you can set for the number of recent files to display. Try setting it to zero, exiting the program, re-opening the program. There should be no files listed. Then set it to whatever number you want and exit the program and then re-open the program and start opening and closing files, and then exit the program and re-open and see if it has repaired itself.
